2001 Introduction

Aileen Castlebury, PINE BRANCH DAYLILY GARDEN

CASTLE TEMPEST

(R. 2001) 32" EMRe sev 8" (95-327-1S) This usual form daylily is one of two in this new classification that I introduced in 2001. I have included a second picture to illustrate the outstanding branching of TEMPEST. We had blooms on this plant for a long period during late summer, as the average bud count on each 4-way branched scape was 20. The violet-purple blend bloom (not quite as red as pictured here--photo lab added the red) has a very large chartreuse to yellow throat with cream mid-ribs and watermark; a narrow violet band punctuates the watermark. The crispate segments are pinched and twisted, giving extra attractiveness to the plant. Fertile. $20.
