2003 Introduction

Aileen Castlebury, Pine Branch Daylily Garden

CASTLE LEMON SWIRLS

(R. 02, I. 2003) Diploid 28" EMRe sev fr 8" Unusual form and spidery daylilies have become a special hybridizing treat for me. Even though this bloom is similar to others in the daylily world, its distinctive plant performance, seen in the middle photograph above, and overall garden appeal are the primary reasons for my decision to register it. Pale yellow with a large lemon throat and tiny green heart, this spider variant (ratio 4:1) has 4-way branching, with an average bud count of 25, and is a great rebloomer. (Photographs above were taken under different circumstances, thus the color differences). I have seen a few polytepal blooms on this daylily (image above right). Fertile. $35. (Sold out)
