IN WOOD
Purple Gallinule, Green Heron
and Red Breasted Goose Carvings
by
Bobby Castlebury
After completing his first bird sculpture in 1977, Bobby won six Best of Show awards in professional competition in 1979, including the International Decoy Competition held in Iowa and the Gulf South competition in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was invited in 1980 to exhibit his carvings at the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Maryland, and has been invited back every year. He exhibited there in November of 2005, making 26 years at this prestigious exhibit.
For many years, Bobby carved mostly lifesize birds, including several in flight, but in the last few years, he has concentrated mostly on miniatures. Bobby believes in being familiar with the subject he is carving. There are many good songbird photographs and photographs of waterfowl on our web site. Nature photography was a hobby long before he began carving.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the carvings or have questions about any of them, e-mail us or call 903-785-0206.
